40 Minute Chili

I’m always looking for quick and easy low maintenance meals because, frankly, I have a short attention span. This short attention span has lead to some near disasters in the kitchen, and has often deterred me from cooking and baking.

Thankfully the lovely Internet, and more specifically Pinterest, links me to great recipes that even I can handle. So here is a delicious chili recipe.

Ingredients you’ll need:

  • 1 lb. of lean (93% fat free) ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 15oz. can of chili beans
  • 1 14oz. can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 8oz. can of tomato sauce
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons of chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Start by browning the beef in a skillet. As the meat cooks you can chop your onion and open your cans if you like. After the beef is cooked combine meat, chopped onion, chili beans, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Stir while adding your chili powder, I generally guess on the amounts for spices, I like a lot of flavor in my food so i went around 2 tablespoons, possibly a little extra. Finally stir in Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper.

Let simmer

Next is my favorite part as it require the least amount of attention, let ingredients simmer for 30 minutes. Set an alarm, relax, catch your favorite sitcom, and then enjoy some delicious chili.
